If you Googled AIG in the past week or so, you may have noticed an ad for Eliot Spitzer’s gubernatorial campaign on the right. You know how these search engines ads work, right? Simply put, you buy advertising space from a search engine and identify key words to go with it. When a user searches using one of your key words, your ad appears along with the search results. Apparently, one of Spitzer’s staff members selected AIG as one of the key words associated with the Spitzer for NY Governor ad campaign. Isn’t the quotable Spitzer often championing something about integrity and fair play in the marketplace? Oh well, it is notable that the attorney general, upon becoming wise to the inappropriate advertising practice, removed the ad.
